Old, Odd, Cool and Collectible advertising piece!!!!
In the mid-1870s, E. Remington & Sons was a firearms manufacturer. Seeking to increase already skyrocketing profits, they decided to head into a new emerging field of technology. So, they started manufacturing typewriters. Mark Twain is quoted as saying, “I am trying to get the hang of this new-fangled writing machine.”. He apparently ditched the typewriter for the good old pen, but he proved to be the exception to the rule. By 1910, total typewriter sales in the United States reached two million annually. Here’s one of the typewriters we have at the store. They are popular with young writers and a mainstay of many writers to this day.
